New flooring changes a room more than almost anything else. I'm Wayne Lewis with All Things Handy, and I handle flooring projects from carpet removal to finished install. Whether you're converting a basement, updating a bathroom, or replacing worn-out flooring in your main living areas, I take care of the tearout, prep, and installation so you get a clean result without coordinating multiple trades.

Every project gets my full attention. No crew of strangers — just me, doing the work right.

Basement Conversions Are a Popular Project

One of the most common flooring jobs I do is basement conversions — ripping out old carpet, installing new flooring, and sometimes handling the full room transformation in the same visit. A recent basement gym conversion in Salem included carpet removal, new flooring install, equipment disassembly and reassembly, and furniture assembly — all for $800. One trip, one crew, everything handled.

How much does flooring installation cost in Utah?

Flooring costs vary by material and scope. A basement conversion including carpet removal, new flooring, and room setup runs around $800 in Utah County. LVP and laminate installations are typically billed at $75 per hour plus a $75 service call, with most rooms completed in half a day.

Flooring as Part of Bigger Projects

Flooring often comes bundled with bathroom remodels, basement builds, or make-ready turnovers. Since I handle all of those services, you get consistent quality across the whole project without juggling multiple contractors. Need the carpet pulled, new LVP laid, and baseboards painted? That's one call.

What is the best flooring for a basement?

LVP (luxury vinyl plank) is the most popular basement flooring choice because it is waterproof, durable, and installs over concrete without a plywood subfloor. Tile is another good option for basements prone to moisture. Carpet and hardwood are not recommended for basements due to moisture risk.

How much does LVP flooring cost per square foot installed?

Luxury vinyl plank flooring typically costs $4 to $12 per square foot installed, including materials and labor. Material alone runs $2 to $5 per square foot depending on quality and wear layer thickness. Labor adds $2 to $5 per square foot. A standard 12x12 room costs roughly $600 to $1,700 total.

I serve homeowners across Utah County and Juab County — including Payson, Salem, Spanish Fork, Springville, Santaquin, and Elk Ridge. Call (385) 438-7442 for a free estimate.
