You Got Questions? We Have Answers
Common questions about our handyman services
What areas do you serve?
We proudly serve homeowners throughout Utah County and Juab County, including Payson, Spanish Fork, Springville, Santaquin, Elk Ridge, and surrounding communities.
What types of handyman services do you offer?
We offer a wide range of services including home repair, home maintenance, rooms and storage builds, installations, furniture and equipment assembly, baby and pet proofing, lawn and garden work, seasonal cleaning, and make-ready services for rentals and move-outs.
How do I get an estimate?
Getting an estimate is easy! You can fill out our online form, or give us a call at (385) 438-7442. We'll discuss your project and provide a fair, transparent quote.
Do you offer a guarantee on your work?
Absolutely! We stand behind every job we do. We don't consider the work done until you're completely satisfied. Read more about our service guarantee.
How much do your services cost?
Every project is different, so pricing depends on the scope of work. We always provide transparent, upfront pricing before starting any job — no hidden fees or surprises. Contact us for a free estimate!
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. All Things Handy is a fully insured business. We're also accredited with the Better Business Bureau, so you can hire us with confidence.
How quickly can you start my project?
We do our best to accommodate your schedule. Many projects can be started within a few days of your initial call. For urgent repairs, we'll work to get to you as quickly as possible.
Can I see examples of your past work?
Of course! Check out our project gallery on the homepage or visit our About page to see recent projects including bathroom remodeling, custom carpentry, kitchen facelifts, and more.
How much does a ceiling fan installation cost?
Ceiling fan installation typically runs between $75 and $150 depending on the setup — whether there's existing wiring, if any drywall work is needed, and the type of fan. We always quote upfront so you know the cost before work begins. See our pricing guide for more common project costs.
Do you handle plumbing repairs?
Yes — we handle fixture-level plumbing like running toilets, leaky faucets, fill valve and flapper replacements, shower diverter installs, and new fixture hookups. For major plumbing work like re-piping or sewer lines, we'll refer you to a licensed plumber. Check out our plumbing services page for details.
Do you repair appliances like dishwashers?
Yes, we handle common appliance repairs including dishwashers and refrigerators. Service calls start at $75, and we'll diagnose the problem before doing any work — so you can decide if repair or replacement makes more sense.
Can I help with the work to lower the cost?
We appreciate the offer, but no. Our insurance doesn't cover working alongside the homeowner on the job site. When you hire licensed and insured contractors, that's part of what you're paying for — the peace of mind that comes with proper liability coverage. We keep pricing fair so it's worth it either way.
What about playsets and shed assembly?
Absolutely. Playset and shed assembly is a common request. Pricing depends on the product — all-plastic models are cheaper to assemble (around $400), while wood or shingled designs take longer and run $550+. Just send us a link to what you bought and we'll give you a flat-rate quote.
Do you do garage door repairs?
No — garage door maintenance and repair is outside our scope. We focus on indoor services like plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall, and general repairs. For garage doors, we recommend calling a dedicated garage door service company.
Do you do bulk or commercial work?
Yes, we serve both residential homeowners and commercial clients including contractors and property managers. We've handled bulk furniture assembly projects, commercial carpet tile replacement, and make-ready turnovers for multi-unit properties. Contact us to discuss your commercial project.
Do you serve Park City?
Yes! We serve the Park City and Summit County area including Deer Valley, Prospector, and the Snyderville Basin. Visit our Park City handyman page for more details.
Should I paint the trim and doors, or just the walls?
It depends on the condition. If your trim and doors show wear, scuffs, or dated color, painting them with the walls makes a bigger impact. If they're in good shape, walls and ceilings alone can still transform a room. We'll walk through the scope with you before quoting.
Do I need to supply the paint?
For most jobs, yes — you buy the paint and we supply the labor, tools, and prep materials. This gives you full control over color and finish. We can help you choose the right type (low luster for walls, semi-gloss for trim and doors) if you're not sure.
How often should you repaint the interior of a house?
Most interior walls should be repainted every 5-7 years, though high-traffic areas like hallways and kitchens may need it sooner. Bathrooms and kitchens benefit from repainting every 3-4 years due to moisture and grease exposure.
Can a handyman install a toilet?
Yes. Replacing an existing toilet is a standard handyman job as long as no plumbing modifications are needed. If you're moving the toilet to a different location, that requires a licensed plumber. See our plumbing services page for more.
Can a handyman replace a showerhead?
Yes. Showerhead replacement is one of the simplest plumbing jobs — most take 15 minutes. Handheld shower conversions with a diverter take a bit longer and run about $125.
Can a handyman install a dimmer switch?
Yes. Replacing a standard light switch with a dimmer switch is a common handyman job. It involves turning off the breaker, removing the old switch, connecting the dimmer, and testing. Most dimmer installs take 15-30 minutes per switch.
Can a handyman install smart home devices?
Yes. Smart switches, smart thermostats, video doorbells, and smart lighting all fall within handyman scope. These devices replace existing fixtures and connect to your home Wi-Fi.
Can you paint kitchen cabinets instead of replacing them?
Yes, and it saves thousands compared to new cabinets. Cabinet painting involves removing doors, sanding, priming, painting (usually 2 coats), and reinstalling with new hardware. This is one of the most popular kitchen facelift projects.
Can you fix water-damaged drywall?
Yes, but the water source must be fixed first. Once the leak is repaired, the damaged drywall is cut out, new drywall is installed, and the seams are mudded, taped, and textured to match.
Can you install flooring over existing tile?
In many cases, yes. LVP and laminate can be installed directly over existing tile if the tile is in good condition, level, and firmly attached. Cracked, loose, or uneven tiles should be removed or leveled first. See our flooring installation page for more details.
What is the difference between a handyman and a general contractor?
A handyman handles smaller maintenance, repair, and improvement jobs and typically works alone. A general contractor manages large construction projects, hires subcontractors, and pulls permits. Handymen are ideal for tasks like painting, drywall, fixtures, fans, and assembly. Contractors are needed for structural changes, additions, and major renovations. Visit our pricing guide for more.
What should I look for when hiring a handyman?
Look for proof of insurance, online reviews, a clear pricing structure, and willingness to provide a written estimate before starting work. Ask if they guarantee their work and how they handle issues after the job. A good handyman communicates clearly, shows up on time, and cleans up after the job.
