Plumbing & Fixture Repair

All Things Handy

Got a running toilet, a leaky faucet, or a fixture that needs replacing? I'm Wayne Lewis with All Things Handy, and I handle the everyday plumbing jobs that don't need a full plumber — but still need to be done right. From swapping out old fill valves and flappers to installing shower diverters and hooking up new fixtures, I get in, fix the problem, and make sure everything's working before I leave. No markup on parts, no surprise fees.

Common Plumbing Jobs & What They Cost

Most plumbing calls start with a $75 service call fee, plus $75 per hour for labor. A typical toilet fill valve and flapper replacement takes 1-2 hours depending on how many toilets need attention. Shower diverter installs (converting tub-only to handheld shower) run around $125. I handle the parts sourcing too — no need to figure out what fits. Just call, describe the problem, and I'll take it from there.

How much does a handyman charge for plumbing in Utah?

In Utah County, handyman plumbing starts at a $75 service call plus $75 per hour for labor. A toilet fill valve and flapper replacement takes 1-2 hours. A shower diverter installation runs about $125 flat. These are fixture-level repairs — major plumbing like re-piping requires a licensed plumber.

What We Don't Do

I focus on fixture-level plumbing — the stuff you can see and touch. For major plumbing work like re-piping, sewer lines, or water heater installs, I'll point you to a licensed plumber. But for everything else — running toilets, dripping faucets, new showerheads, fixture swaps — that's right in my wheelhouse.

Can a handyman install a toilet?

Yes. Replacing an existing toilet with a new one is a standard handyman job as long as no plumbing modifications are needed. The old toilet is removed, the wax ring is replaced, and the new toilet is set, leveled, and connected. If you are moving the toilet to a different location or changing the rough-in distance, that requires a licensed plumber.

How do I know if I need a plumber or a handyman?

If you can see and touch the problem (dripping faucet, running toilet, leaky showerhead), a handyman can fix it. If the problem is behind walls, under the slab, or involves the main water line, sewer, or water heater, call a licensed plumber. A good rule: if it requires a permit, it requires a plumber.
